Do I have to pay the VAT for an adjustable bed or riser recliner chair?
If you are thinking of purchasing an Adjustamatic Adjustable Bed or Riser Recliner Chair then you could be eligible for Value Added Tax (VAT) exemption as part of the HMRC notice 701/7 (VAT Act 1994). This applies if you are purchasing a bed or chair for domestic use.
Do I qualify for VAT exemption on my adjustable bed?
Most people don’t realise that they qualify. You are eligible if you are:
- Suffering with a condition that the medical profession treats as chronic sickness, such as diabetes
- Are disabled (Excluding temporary incapacitation for example a broken limb)
- Suffer from physical or mental impairment which has long term and substantial adverse effect on you carrying out your everyday activities
- Terminally ill
If you’re still not sure if you qualify, you can always call 0808 163 6976 to speak to one of our fully trained advisers to discuss your needs and circumstances.
