As Mother’s Day approaches, what better way to treat your mum than with a lovely restful lay in in a comfortable bed? But did you know that a good night’s sleep can also be beneficial for her health?
The results of a our sleep survey*showed however that for many women, getting a good night’s sleep is increasingly hard to achieve.
The results of the survey showed that the majority of women surveyed indicated that their partner tossing and turning or duvet hogging was the main cause of a disturbed night’s sleep. This was closely followed by a noisy partner snoring alongside them. But in third place came an uncomfortable bed or mattress.
For Adjustamatic, a bed that provides the right postural support you while you sleep is the key to waking up feeling rested and with the energy we need to face the day.
Like eating well and being active, getting a good night’s sleep is vital to our health and wellbeing. Prolonged poor sleep has shown in clinical research to contribute too health problems, including cardiovascular disease, arthritis and diabetes.
Did you know that your waistline may also be at risk if you can’t sleep too? A recently published analysis of the Nurses’ Health Study in the United States, involving data from nearly 70,000 women, found that those who slept no more than six hours nightly faced a 12 percent higher likelihood of gaining 33 pounds during the 16-year study. The risk jumped to 32 percent if they slept five hours or less. One theory is that sleep deprivation may alter the body’s metabolism.
Irving Milson, Managing Director at Adjustamatic said “we all appreciate how good we feel after a restful night’s sleep. However, many of us don’t realise that by switching to an adjustable bed you could achieve a better quality sleep and in turn a better quality of life. Investment in good sleep posture is a health investment and so this Mother’s Day; why not treat your mum to a relaxing lay in, in the comfort of an adjustable bed and give the gift of a comfortable night’s sleep.”
All our adjustable beds act also as your own personal trained masseur owing to the unique, in-built Cyclo-Therapy massage system. Cyclo-therapy is proven to naturally help you rest and relax more easily, as it soothes rheumatic pain, eases aching muscles, reduces high blood pressure and improves circulation. It works on a three-dimensional “cycloidal vibration” which is much less invasive than many standard massage devices giving a gentle and relaxing experience while stimulating the blood flow and muscles.
Commenting on the benefits of an adjustable bed Sammy Margo, physiotherapist, spokesperson for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and author of The Good Sleep Guide says: “My interest in sleep developed when I was treating physiotherapy patients in their homes, in their bedrooms. I soon realised that the impact of a good night’s sleep can profoundly affect the healing process. If you suffer from aches and pains that keep you awake at night, then looking into ways of getting a good night’s sleep is vital. That’s why I recommend an Adjustamatic bed with their in-built Cyclo-Therapy massage system.”
