Insomnia Awareness Week is running from the 1st of April and its objective is to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of Insomnia and treatment options available.
Insomnia Facts :
There are two main types of insomnia
- Short term ( Days to weeks, no longer than a month )
- Chronic ( Is on-going )
Causes can include
- Poor sleep habits ( Eg, watching TV in bed, not having a regular bed time )
- Changes in your sleep habits or surroundings ( Noise, light, etc. )
- Stimulants ( Caffeine, tobacco etc. )
A couple of treatment suggestions include avoiding caffeine and alcohol for several hours before bedtime also regular exercise can help.
